Griffin Humphries files class action counterclaims to protect property rights
The State reports on Griffin Humphries’ fight against court-ordered survey access for the proposed Bridge Project natural gas pipeline through Hampton and Colleton Counties
On July 8, 2026, the firm filed class action counterclaims on behalf of as many as 94 landowners, seeking an injunction against surveyors’ entering private land without consent. The firm also moved to dismiss the petitions on two grounds: no petitioner holds the federal certificate required for eminent-domain authority, and the petitions were filed in the name of “Elba Express, L.L.C.,” an entity that does not exist. Firm attorney Badge Humphries told The State that granting survey access is “the first step in losing your property.”
