Biography
Catherine Hunter is skilled litigator with more than a decade’s experience in the courtroom. She spent five years as an assistant solicitor in the First Judicial Circuit, prosecuting defendants accused of violent crimes, including domestic violence, drug offenses, criminal sexual conduct, and murder. Prior to that, she worked in the Richland County public defender’s office representing clients in both circuit and magistrate court. This breadth of experience gives Catherine a well-rounded perspective on the criminal justice system.
After ten years in the public sector, Catherine transitioned into private practice. Catherine has extensive experience representing clients charged with crimes in circuit court and magistrate court. She represents clients in matters related to healthcare fraud and employment issues, including licensed professionals charged with administrative violations.
Catherine is a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law. She also earned Bachelor of Science degrees in accounting and management from the University of South Carolina, graduating magna cum laude.
Catherine is committed to serving the legal profession and her community. She was a member of the South Carolina Bar’s policy-setting House of Delegates for seven years and is a past Richland County Bar Memorial Service chair. She served as secretary of the Shandon Neighborhood Council and is a past board member of the University of South Carolina Young Alumni for the Darla Moore School of Business.
